Text Messagemorrowdim - derived from the Sindarin word minuial, the time near dawn, when the stars fade. (Hiswelókë Sindarin Dictionary, 2001)
menel - n. sky, high heaven, firmament, the region of the stars (Hiswelókë Sindarin Dictionary, 2001)

Greetings, stranger!
Welcome to Morrowdim, my slash fan fiction journal. Here you’ll find my stories as well as general fannish ravings, rants and musings (and lots of film talk because I’m a total cinephile).
My LJ life is sporadic at best so don’t be surprised if it takes me days, weeks or even months to get back to you. I like to think though, that I do get there in the end.

Why Menel?
A dear friend once said that I reminded her of the sky because it could be both beautiful and threatening. The idea stuck and since then all my online handles have been variations of the word ‘sky,’ whether it’s the French ciel or the Sindarin menel.

Fandoms
(or There's No Such Thing as an OTP)
I believe in serial monogamy, both in RL and in fandom.
My love affair in fandom began with Lord of the Rings and my fascination with men and elves, especially the much-maligned Aragorn/Legolas pairing. I’m still Legolas-centric and once thought it a mission to slash the Prince with as many hot men (Legolas/Éomer, anyone?) and hot elves (Legolas/Haldir…nice) as possible.
From LotR, the world of Homer and that terrible film Troy made me see the immense possibilities of Hector and Paris (and Aeneas, and Odysseus, and Diomedes, and Apollo and…you get the picture.) Really, what’s not to love about the Greeks?
From the ancient world, I jumped well into the future and became obsessed with all things Star Wars. Surprisingly, I found myself drawn towards pairings in the prequels, Obi-Wan/Anakin (the Anakin in my mind is a far superior one that’s portrayed in the films) and Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan. When George Lucas throws about terms like Master and Padawan, how is the slash not inevitable?
After Star Wars, there was a long lull and I was afraid that I’d fallen out of fandom for good. Then along came Tim Kring and Heroes, and more importantly, Petrellicest. Yes, I’ve developed an obvious predilection for dysfunctional brothers. Heroes may never be able to regain the glory of its first season, but that season will always have a special place in my heart.
In late 2008, fandom exploded for me again in the form of two TV shows, both of which I discovered rather late. The first is House, M.D. and the excellent Hugh Laurie. House/Wilson practically is canon, but it’s House/Chase that I have a real soft spot for.
The second show features arguably the ultimate dysfunctional family now that Six Feet Under is off the air. I’m talking about Supernatural and the demon fighting, stunningly messed up Winchester brothers. Sam and Dean definitely bring sexy back to the small screen.
The definition of serial monogamy in fandom means that I only have the energy and the time to devote to one fandom at a time. I hate to think that the chronological list I just gave means that I’m no longer interested in earlier fandoms. While it’s true that the flame doesn’t burn as brightly as it used to (in some cases it seems extinguished), there’s always the possibility of revisiting and renewing an old flame. Just like there’s always the possibility of finding a new flame.
